靠著先發投手穩定的表現，運動家隊7比5擊敗老虎隊，拿到他們本季最佳的4連勝，老虎隊則吃下7連敗，運動家隊要為5成勝率繼續努力。

運動家隊本季表現並不理想，即使最近4連勝，戰績仍是美國聯盟最差的23勝33敗，總教練Bob Melvin說我們只是盡力去打好每一戰，盡力去贏每一場比賽，盡力將勝率提升到5成。

如果運動家隊勝率要回到5成，先發投手必須要持續有穩定的表現，因為他們最近22場比賽，先發投手戰績9勝8敗、防禦率2.23，這將是運動家隊能否擺脫美聯戰績最爛球隊的關鍵。

此戰，運動家隊先發投手Jesse Hahn投的精采，投7局被擊出5支安打失1分，三振5次、保送1次，贏得勝投（3勝5敗）。

但運動家隊的牛棚恐怕還加油，9局上Dan Otero後援，遭老虎隊敲出4支安打包括 Tyler Collins轟出3分砲（本季第1轟），失掉4分，最後「守護神」Tyler Clippard登板，才守住了勝果，Tyler Clippard本季第9次救援成功。

運動家隊此戰共擊出10支安打，Billy Butler、Brett Lawrie、Eric Sogard各敲2安。老虎隊Shane Greene先發4.1局失6分、4分責失，吞敗投（4勝5敗）。
